What’s a monkey burger?
In Holland, urban legends are called broodje aap verhalen, which roughly translates to Monkey Burgers, hence the title of this blog. Generally speaking, urban legends (monkey burgers) are somewhat bizarre stories. They’re kind of like playing grapevine – stories are told and retold to the extent that they bear no resemblance to the original event (if there ever was one).
How to tell a Monkey Burger from the real thing?
Usually, when you hear a monkey burger, the teller has some kind of connection to the event, or “it happened to a friend of a friend.” Typically, a monkey burger is false but difficult to confirm or deny.
